Drake was pleased to partner with the Anderson Abruzzo Balloon Museum to put on the largest NM Tweet Up to date! Jim Schumaker, owner of Scarpa’s and Cooperage, donated all the great food for the night. We had a great turn-out with an estimated crowd of 275 including Albuquerque Mayor Marty Chavez and Santa Fe Country Sheriff Greg Solano.
It was great chatting with Mayor Marty Chavez and Sheriff Greg Solano about social media. Solano has a growing presence, embracing Facebook and Twitter, and has real one-on-one conversations with locals. Mayor Chavez seems to be figuring it all out. There isn’t as much interaction from the Mayor’s office yet, but during our chat, it seemed he really understood this is a growing medium.
The kids enjoyed face painting and we were treated to a private tour of the musuem. The views from the balcony were spectacular! Every fifteen minutes there was a raffle drawing giving away a balloon poster from the gift shop. Special thanks to Will Reichard and Daniel M Clark for all their help at the check-in table!
Charlie Eisenhood had a nice post prior to our Tweet Up on the Albuquerque Journal website. And Matthew Reichbach wrote a good piece in the New Mexico Independent after the event.
If you’re looking for a unique venue for your next event, put the Balloon Museum on your list. We at Drake are happy to help quickly organize any event for your business entity using the power of social media!
We had a live tweet projection on a wall at the museum. My Twitter stream was filled with people still talking about the event the next morning! Here’s some screenshots of some of those tweets.
